Sometimes you need something that isn’t work.

Something with no agenda, no big plan, and no requirement to be good at it. Something just for fun.

For me, that’s a new Instagram account, @ts3philly, where I’m sharing our adventures in Philadelphia after 50.

We moved here three years ago, and we love it. But when I look back, a lot of our time has been spent somewhere else. Falls on the sidelines of soccer pitches in upstate New York. A month at the beach each summer. All good things, though my neglected outdoor planters might disagree. I vow to tend to them ASAP!

I’m ready to spend more time exploring the city we call home. A different neighborhood, a creative class, a place we’ve walked past a dozen times and finally decide to step inside. And, of course, finding something good to eat along the way.

Taking photos, telling stories, learning something new. I’m figuring it out as I go.

If you’re in a similar season or just want to see what I find, follow along. Suggestions for creative outlets and favorite Philly spots are very welcome. So are Instagram tips.

And a little love for my husband, who happily took on the role of photographer while I wait for the tripod to arrive. That’s support.

Kids are grown. The city is ours. Go Birds!

THE REFLECTION

Trying to Make Peace with My 'Berthas'.

She inherited her grandmother’s double Ds and named them in her honor. Now she’s considering a reduction, but it turns out there’s more to weigh than how her dresses fit.

6 Hours 54 Minutes.

That’s how much sleep I got last night.

At some point, “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” stopped sounding like a personality trait and started sounding like a warning.

I’m taking the warning seriously.

THE WILDCARD

Book Club Drama.

The book is Strangers. The women have known each other for years. If you’ve ever wondered what gets said in the book club email thread you’re not on, this one’s for you.

If you know someone who'd love this, send it to them.

That's the whole ask.

There's something in it for you too.

Details below.

My answer:

Dishes clanking. Apparently, some part of me is still waiting tables at Bob’s Big Boy.
