Bloom. came from wanting something I couldn’t really find.

I wanted to hear from women over 50 about what was happening in their lives. How they felt about friendships that had changed, kids leaving home, work, getting older, and what they wanted to do next. I wanted something I could see myself in and send to a friend saying, “Have you read this?”

The goal is pretty simple: help you feel understood and trust yourself to decide what you want next.

How Bloom. began.

Once my kids were off living their own lives, I had more time to think about mine. I started asking myself what I wanted and, probably to everyone’s surprise, started saying it out loud.

In my twenties, life was about my adventures and my career. My thirties and forties were mostly about taking care of everyone else. In my fifties, I had time for myself again, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it.

I wasn’t the same person I’d been before kids. I’d spent years keeping track of what everyone else needed, and now I was getting to know what mattered to me. I was also realizing that I didn’t need anyone’s permission to make a few changes.

I went looking for things to read that reflected this. I was tired of lists and how-to guides telling me what I should be doing. I wanted to hear how other women were figuring it out and have room to make up my own mind.

So I started Bloom. I love finding an article that puts words to something I’ve been thinking about, especially when I know a friend will feel the same way. Bloom gives me a place to share those stories, along with the discoveries and things I’m enjoying as I figure out what comes next.

A little about me.

I’m Trish. Give me an idea to kick around and I’ll probably leave with a plan and a spreadsheet. My background is in marketing, and I now own a coworking space. Bringing people together has always come naturally to me.

I have three grown kids and a long history of standing beside a field in the wrong coat. I loved supporting them. I also love having weekends where I get to pick what we do.

Lately, that means poking around Philadelphia, playing padel, or finding somewhere that makes a really good espresso martini. My favorite place to read is still the beach, after 5pm, when everyone else starts packing up.

Come read with us.

I’d love for some of the conversations that start here to turn into friendships. That’s what I hope to build with Bloom.

It all starts with a free newsletter, delivered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. I think you're going to like it here.
